Leave Holiday Stressors Behind

The holiday season is here! For some, it’s a time of excitement and fun. For others, it’s a time of reflection. For others still, it’s a time of anxiety and obligations. 

While the holidays can be joy-filled and peaceful, most of us will experience stress and pressure at some point during the season. To alleviate that stress, it’s important to set boundaries, give yourself grace and take time for self-care. 

During the busy holiday season, we all spend tons of time in the car as we travel, attend holiday functions and events and shop for loved ones. If this season is stressful for you, we’ve got some simple ideas on how to relieve your stress that you can do while driving or in the car. (Spoiler: yes, we think you should wash your car at some point.) 

Focus on gratitude. Alleviate holiday stress by creating a habit of practicing gratitude. An easy way to do that is to keep a gratitude journal in the car. Jot down something you are grateful for while waiting for kids in the carpool line, picking up groceries or rolling through the tunnel at Snap Clean. Even taking two minutes to practice gratitude can change your perspective and improve your outlook. (It should go without saying, but obviously don’t attempt to write while driving!)

Practice self-care. We don’t think that spending extraordinary amounts of money is necessary for self-care, but sometimes a small splurge can worthwhile. Sometimes the feeling of caring for others, addressing work obligations and meeting family expectations overwhelms even the most stable individuals. Holidays are stressful. There are extra layers to every situation at work or at the family Christmas dinner. Treating yourself to a small splurge can feel rejuvenating because it re-instills a sense of control and order into an otherwise chaotic season. Whether it’s a favorite coffee drink or a 20-minute drive by yourself where you listen to your favorite music or a podcast, self-care is vital to getting through busy seasons. 

Improve your environment. A clean and orderly environment reduces stress. From the house to the office to the car, chaotic and cluttered surroundings make people feel more anxious. Maybe it’s the busyness of the season or just that days are shorter, but we find that many of our customers tend to forget to use their monthly wash passes during the holiday season.
