Car Wash Myths ... Busted

Setting the record straight on commercial car washes

When it comes to washing cars, we at Snap Clean are passionate about delivering a fantastic experience and the quality wash our customers have come to expect.

For the purists out there, nothing will do but a weekly hand wash and wax for their beloved cars. We get it. We love our cars, too. But… (record scratch…) most people just don’t have the time for a manual hand wash and wax every week! And we know one thing about car care that no one will ever argue with: your car will last longer and retain more of its value if it is well-maintained, including being washed regularly.

Ready for MythBusters with Snap Dog? Here are our top three myths about commercial car washes where we’d like to set the record straight!

Myth #1 – Commercial car washes will scratch your paint.

Answer: If your local car wash scratched up the paint on your car, they did it wrong. A properly maintained commercial car wash should use high quality soft cloth brushes to apply detergents and shine agents. As long as these brushes are maintained and used in conjunction with high quality chemistry, your paint should look BETTER when you leave the car wash. See a scratch after a wash? Most often these scratches are buried under a layer of grime the wash just cleaned away. Our tunnel is maintained like a massive computer system – process and chemistry matter.

Myth #2 – Car washes waste water and harm the environment.

Answer: Washing a car at home in the driveway can use up to nine times more water than a commercial car wash. Our professional tunnel wash uses far less water than an at-home wash. How? At Snap Clean, we reclaim, purify and reuse up to 75 percent of the water we use thanks to a state-of-the-art reverse osmosis system that effectively removes contaminants from water. The result is a final rinse that leaves a spot-free, shiny finish our customers love. When’s the last time you tried to reclaim the water from your faucet?

Myth #3 – There’s no difference in packages.

Answer: When you come to Snap Clean, you’ll notice a visible difference in how we apply our detergents and shine agents, from our basic wash all the way up to the Platinum package. All our washes are fantastic, but when you go for a higher level wash, you will see variation in color as we apply the additional chemicals that don’t come with our lower packages. Our tire shine is another example of a chemical that doesn’t come on the lower packages – and we brush it on as your car rolls through the tunnel. Can’t afford a regular Platinum wash? We believe a minimum basic wash each week will help you maintain your car and keep it looking great. Spring for a higher wash occasionally and during especially wet or dirty seasons on the road.

There you have it folks. Our tunnel wash offers high quality, effortless (for you) care for your car’s exterior. No matter what you drive, from a high end luxury vehicle to an older car, it always feels better if it’s CLEAN. See you soon, car wash enthusiasts!
