You could spend $100 or more for a professional detail job, but it’s easy to take care of the details yourself. With a little help from the experienced car wash pros at Snap Clean to shine up your wheels and exterior paint job, your entire car will feel newer.
Here are Snap Dog’s Top Tips for a DIY interior detail job.
Take out the trash . This may seem like a no-brainer, but before you switch on the vacuum or grab a dust rag, remove all trash from the car. From old Red Bull cans and water bottles to useless paperwork and receipts, trash it all.
Take out the floor mats. Shake off dirt, grass and crumbs, and vacuum the floor mats outside of your car. Turn them over and check for sticky spots and grime and clean these with an all-purpose cleaner and a microfiber cloth. If the carpet itself looks dingy or is stained, use hot water and blue Dawn soap with a scrub brush to remove as much of the stain as you can. Let the mats dry completely before reinstalling. If the floor mats are a lighter color, you can let them dry in the sun to lighten stains as well.
Remove pet fur. If you have pets, you know how challenging it can be to deal with their fur on the interior of your car! Remove as much as you can with a vacuum cleaner and then grab a lint roller and roll your seats and carpet to remove the rest.
VACUUM. We work hard at Snap Clean to keep our vacuum lines clear from clogs so they always provide crazy strong suction. Remove big stuff (like your kids’ errant Goldfish crackers) by hand, and then go crazy with our vacuum cleaners to reach every nook and cranny of your car. Vacuum the cup holders, map pockets and event the seat back pockets. Don’t forget to vacuum the trunk or cargo area
Interior wipe down. Use a car specific interior cleaner to wipe down all the interior surfaces, concentrating on the areas where dust and crumbs accumulate like cup holders and storage books. If necessary, grab an old toothbrush to loosen stuck on stains. Use a microfiber cloth with cleaner to restore shine to your interior surfaces.
Clear the air. Remember that new car smell? It’s actually not that good for you. New car smell is really the result of newly installed plastic materials off-gassing and putting pollutants into the air. If you want a pleasant scent in your car, grab an all-natural air freshener.
You do not have to spend big bucks to make the interior of your car feel clean. A few common household tools and cleaning supplies make it easy. For the exterior? Leave it to the pros as Snap Clean for an environmentally-friendly job that always leaves you with a beautiful shine!
