North Texas is known for long, hot summers, and those brutal temperatures are upon us. That means it is even more important to wash your car often.
During the winter months, we make sure we don’t wash when it’s too cold as soap and detergents will adhere to the surface of your car and not rinse properly. In the summer, we encourage our customers to wash often to protect their paint jobs. Just as the summer sun ages your skin, it also causes an aged look on your paint job. So, how should you care for your car during the summer?
To keep your paint job looking great no matter the age of the vehicle, the most obvious solution would be to store your car indoors out of the sun, but that’s not always practical, especially if you drive daily. The next best thing is to protect the surface of the paint job with frequent washing and waxing.
First things first: wash your car about once a week. If you are washing by hand, make sure you wash the car in the shade. For a professional job, our tunnel wash offers a great way to get your car clean quickly and effortlessly. Tunnel washes are also more environmentally friendly than a DIY in the driveway because we recapture and reuse the majority of the water we use.
Remove dust and grime using a sprayer or soft brush. We start with a quick spray and brush to remove large particles and soap up your vehicle. We then use soft touch foam brushes to remove grime and dust without scratching the surface of your paint. Thoroughly dry the exterior with a microfiber towel. Our Platinum wash comes with an exterior wax, but during the summer a hand wax can be beneficial as well. After washing, dry your vehicle completely and then add a coat of a high quality auto wax to the vehicle with a semi-damp microfiber cloth. Buff off with a clean cloth moving from front to back vs. in a circular motion to avoid leaving swirl marks behind.
Keeping your vehicle looking great during summer months helps improve your car’s longevity and maintain value over the long term. Our monthly passes are a great way to keep your car looking great.
